The Jewellery Show (“TJS”) at Spring Fair 2013 has been in full swing at the National Exhibition Centre, Birmingham, this week (3-7 February). A regular feature of the show is the TJS catwalk, this year sponsored by Retail Jeweller Magazine.

On 31st May, I attended the AGM of The British Allied Trades Federation, the umbrella organisation for the British trade associations: British Jewellers Association, Giftware Association, Jewellery Distributors Association, British Travel Goods and Accessories Association and Surface Engineering Association. Royds operate the Intellectual Property Advice & Protection Scheme (“Copywatch“) for the BJA, BTAA and JDA. Entering into the Dragon’s Den. Stephen Welfare, partner reports back from the Hong Kong International Jewellery Trade Show
2012 is the year of the Black or Water Dragon in the Chinese Stem-Branch Calendar system. The image of the dragon in Chinese legend is mystic, blurred and untouchable. Following on from attending at probably the UK’s largest trade show, The Spring Fair at Birmingham NEC earlier this month, I travelled across the globe to see how it’s done in the Far East, and discover if there are any trade secrets to be learnt. I joined those Brits exhibiting and visiting the Hong Kong International Jewellery Show (“HKIJ”). Royds enjoys the patronage of many jewellery businesses as clients.

The UK Jewellery Awards 2011 at the Grosvenor House Hotel on July 14th recognised and celebrated the industry’s finest talent.
The event was brought by Retail Jeweller Magazine and hosted by celebrity TV presenter and model, Lisa Snowdon. Royds’ clients and contacts were once again well represented amongst the finalists, but sadly no winners. Continue reading

Another trade show, another City but not the same thing. On Wednesday, 30th March I attended the Watch and Jewellery Show, BaselWorld, Switzerland. As a first time visitor I was impressed at the size of the stands compared to what I am used to seeing at Spring Fair and IJL. Two storey constructions were the norm amongst the watch companies with Rolex the pick of the bunch – marble walls and staircases no less! Continue reading
