The Personal Injury Department is headed up by James Millar Craig who has over 30 years experience and is an Accredited Member of the Law Society Personal Injury Panel and Member of APIL. Recent successful cases carried out by Royds include: Head Injury Cases In a recent case, we obtained for a client damages over £207,000 when he had had serious personality changes after a serious head injury. The client was delighted.
Uninsured Driver and MIB cases We have recently had a run of cases where either pedestrians or motorist Claimants have been hit by uninsured drivers. This includes one very large case involving the MIB and an uninsured driver being chased by the police. Damages recovered exceeded £850,000.
Cycling Accident Claims We deal with a large number of cycle accident claims, including many in London. These serious accidents can effect cyclists injured travelling to and from work. One recent massive case certainly arose from a fatal accident to a cyclist on Waterloo Bridge. The damages recovered were in excess of £1.5 million.
Burns Injuries We specialise in burns cases. A recent claim involved a client who was seriously burned when her dress caught fire at a wedding reception from a gas fire. After lengthy High Court litigation, a large sum was paid out to her.
Finger Loss Claims We have had 2 recent claims involving serious loss of fingers from accidents at work, one in a factory and another in a farm accident. In both cases, the employer’s insurers initially disputed liability but we recovered large damages.
Accidents at Work We deal with all accident at work claims. Recent examples where we have obtained a large amount of damages include scaffolding and ladder accidents at work. We have close links with Health & Safety experts.
Skiing Accidents We have been involved in a number of skiing accident cases. These can involve complex international jurisdiction problems. Recent successes involved Canada and France. We obtained large damages for a skiing accident in France where our client had serious facial injuries. We deal with all Road Traffic Accidents, Fatal Accidents and Industrial Disease cases. In addition Royds does a large amount of Clinical Negligence work. We work on a ‘No Win No Fee’ (CFA) basis where appropriate and act for clients throughout England & Wales.
