Expertise and Clients 

Tax efficient wealth management 

With over 20 years’ experience advising wealthy individuals in the UK and overseas (he has long standing relationships with clients in the Middle East) and substantial trusts, Tony’s expertise spans three key elements:

  • Tax and estate planning – particularly with regards to  inheritance tax (IHT) and capital gains tax (CGT);
  • Trusts – establishing, administering and winding up trusts including trustee appointments and taxation;
  • Probate administration – for estates over £1m and contentious probate claims.

 Charitable and not for profit  

Tony also advises on charity law and has a number of charitable and not for profit clients. He is Trustee of Roy Kinnear House (http://www.roykinnearhouse.co.uk/), a charity providing a home for life for people – especially young adults – with profound and complex learning and physical disabilities.

He was previously chairman of a wildlife charity and a former pension scheme trustee. He also acts as a Deputy (Office of Public Guardian – OPG) for vulnerable people and those with mental capacity issues.

Professional affiliations and appointments

Tony is a member of the Society of Trusts and Estate Practitioners (STEP) which means that he is recognized as a specialist in the field of estate planning and trust law. 

He is a member of the Association of Contentious Trust and Probate Specialists (ACTPS) and covers the difficult area of disputed wills and estates.

He is also a member of Solicitors for the Elderly (SFE), advising on matters of mental capacity and Lasting Powers of Attorney and making applications to the Court of Protection where necessary.  

Tony studied law at University of Newcastle Upon Tyne. 

Interests 

Tony is married and lives in Horsham, West Sussex. His interests include golf and bridge and he is a member of Sussex County Cricket Club. He has been a Horsham District Councillor and leader of Horsham District Council.
