Roger May

Roger May

Consultant

Roger May qualified as a solicitor in 1988 with a small City firm in the company/commercial team.  He moved with his growing family to the South Coast in 1989 and joined the large regional firm Blake Lapthorn.

Roger started working on pension schemes in 1992 (when the legislation was very much simpler), and over the course of the next 10 years found himself doing nothing but pensions work.

As well as drafting large and complicated pensions documents, he represented the Trustees of the APW Electronics Pension Scheme in a high-profile case on the compromise of a £55m pension debt.  This led to the Trustees lobbying Parliament to change the law, which duly happened four years later, though Roger does not claim all the credit!

Membership

Roger is a member of the Association of Pension Lawyers and has spoken regularly at their seminars.

Interests

Outside work, Roger helped Lord March gain planning permission for the re-opening of the historic Goodwood Motor Circuit in 1998.  He is now in the process of setting up his own website to sell second hand and rare books.
