Hannah May

Assistant Solicitor

Following a successful career in book publishing, Hannah completed her Post-Graduate Diploma in Law and Legal Practice Course with Distinction. She gained experience in Commercial Litigation and International Arbitration by working for several City and American firms before joining Royds as a Trainee Solicitor in March 2008. Hannah qualified as a Solicitor in the Employment Department in April 2010 and now specialises in Employment.


Expertise and Clients

Hannah acts for both employers and employees in contentious and non-contentious matters. She assists her clients in Tribunal claims, including unfair dismissal and discrimination claims. She also helps clients negotiate Compromise Agreements to conclude an employment relationship in a mutually satisfactory way.

Hannah drafts employment contracts, company policies and staff handbooks, and advises employers on their rights and responsibilities in managing their employees.

In addition to her employment work, Hannah is part of the team acting for the Government of Mauritius in appeals to the Privy Council.

Hannah is a member of the Employment Lawyers Association.
